May 12, 19, 26 - Monday – 7:00 PM – FREE – EVENING SCRABBLE. Night time Scrabble is a success! Come play Scrabble at the Gulf Gate Books-A-Million, Highway 41 (Tamiami Trail ) and Gulf Gate Drive, one block south of Clark Road (Stickney Point). BYOBoard if possible. Our group has some serious Scrabble experts - you can play a friendly game or a competitive game, or just watch - and you are welcome to bring a friend. CHANGE May 14 - Wednesday - 6:00 PM - $$ - DINNER MEETING. Tonight's dinner, celebrating Stewart Ogilby's 3/4 century birthday, is being switched to the Red Lobster in Sarasota (a couple hundred feet south of Gulf Gate, on the east side of 41). It seems that the Palma Sola Bay Grille, where we had planned this event, has bit the culinary dust! Help us celebrate Stewart's birthday! P.O.E.T.S. is one of our most popular events – our weekly impromptu get-together, attitude adjustment session, and dinner. We're meeting at the Ruby Tuesday's at the (Westfield) Sarasota Square Mall. Ruby Tuesday's has a wide variety of great food at reasonable prices - and an outstanding salad bar – what could be better?! So, come get your @#&% attitude adjusted – and join us at P.O.E.T.S. May 29 – Thursday – 7:00 PM – FREE – “SORDID LIVES” with Ruth Danielle. At a Palm Springs RG years ago, I laughed my way through this 2000 Del Shores movie. With the help of Renaissance Video (necessary because I didn’t remember its name or anybody in it – Olivia Newton-John, Beau Bridges, Delta Burke), I’ve located it. The San Diego Movie Buddy I saw it with is coming to visit this month, and we’re going to see it again! It’s rated R, and concerns a family (amazing characters) in a small Texas town preparing for the funeral of the mother. Please join us at my home, 3264 Ramblewood Circle, Sarasota, to share this “black comedy about white trash.”  Popcorn furnished – BYOB.
