. . . and nominated again (as a mid-size group) in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005! We didn't submit it in 2006 . . . had to give the others a break!

Winner of the 2007 Owl as American Mensa's best newsletter - regardless of group size! We also received the Owl for the best medium-size group newsletter, of course!

Congratulations to Ed Coudal and all The 4M's contributors!

The 4M is noted for great puzzles . . .

. . . like Ed Coudal's Minimum Moves Metamorphose Maker, Anagram Angst, and Cryptological Craziness, and  Joe Venuti's Crossword (in the print edition).

. . . and here's our weekly Web site puzzle . . .

Puzzle # 388: Within a Tiger Woods' driver tee shot (~300 yards), how far is the (center of the base of the) Empire State Building from the (center of the base of the) Statue of Liberty? Joe Venuti and Nancy Heinrich solved this one. The two points are 5 miles, 667 feet, 6 inches apart.

When the background turns gray, that puzzle number is no longer being contested. A new question will be provided each week whether or not anyone earns a plaque. Here is the puzzle for the week of Friday May 9, 2008 until (roughly noon on)  Friday, May 16, 2008.

Puzzle # 389: If someone had a telescope on an altazimuth mounting, what (horizontal only) angle (to the nearest minute) would he set to see the Statue of Liberty from the Empire State Building (as described in the previous puzzle)?

e-mail the puzzle guy, Dwight Gill with your answer!
